Director General

Mr. Atul Sobti is the Director General of “Standing Conference of Public Enterprises” an apex body of the Public Sector Enterprises of India and Member, Governing Body of International Labour Organisation (ILO), Geneva. He is also a Member of Central Board of Trustees, “Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO)” and Member “Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)”. Earlier, he was Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise, one of the India’s largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in energy and infrastructure sectors.

Mr.Sobti is a “Mechanical Engineering Graduate”, and a “Law Graduate” with “Post-Graduation in International Management” and “Post-Graduation in Project Management”. He is Fellow of the “Indian National Academy of Engineering” and the “Institution of Engineers (India)”. He represents employers on various international platforms, including ILO, OECD, United Nations, International Organisation of Employers etc. Mr. Sobti represents on Boards of various national level organizations viz., “National Safety Council”, “National Productivity Council” and “Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education.”

Recognizing his contribution, Mr. Sobti has been honoured with number of awards, including the “Outstanding Leadership Award 2022” by the Institute of Economic Studies; “Centre for Excellence in Project Management Fellowship Award, 2022”; “Eminent Engineering Personalities Award” by Institution of Engineers; “Most Admired Leader Award 2020”; “Excellence Award 2019 for Nation Building”; “Award for Excellent Contribution in Power Sector Development”; “CEO with HR orientation”; “Visionary Leader in Heavy Engineering”; “Excellence Award for Leadership” etc.
