SCOPE conducts workshop on ‘GST: Issues & Implications’

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), in collaboration with the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), organized an interactive workshop on ‘GST: Issues & Implications’ at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi recently. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, GAIL. Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE; CMA Manoj Kumar Anand and CMA Nisha Dewan from ICMAI also addressed the participants. The workshop attended by over 60 participants from various PSEs, aimed at equipping participants with a deeper understanding of GST’s evolving framework, through technical sessions, expert-led discussions, and case studies.

The event also provided participants with actionable insights to optimize Input Tax Credit (ITC), mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with the latest GST amendments and judgments.

SCOPE APSE organizes Executive Development Program for CPSEs

SCOPE Academy of Public Sector Enterprises (APSE) organized an Executive Development Program for Junior and Mid-Level Executives of CPSEs on the theme ‘The Career Journey to Personal Effectiveness’. Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE inaugurated the weeklong program participated by 33 participants from 15 Public Sector Enterprises.

In his inaugural address, DG, SCOPE emphasized that the contribution of PSEs to the national economy is huge and they continue to contribute incessantly to the socio-economic development of the nation. Emphasizing on the need to inculcate ‘3 Cs – Conviction, Commitment and Confidence’ in one’s career development, he advised participants to think out-of-the-box and develop diverse skills to acquire excellence and scale newer heights.

As part of its capacity building endeavour, SCOPE regularly facilitates workshops for employees across all organizational levels.

SCOPE-GIZ train senior executives from 52 organizations on Role of Climate Co-benefit Methodologies for Climate Action

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex body of Indian PSEs, collaborates with GIZ Germany to build capacities in PSEs towards Climate Change and Climate Action by conducting regional Workshop on “The Role of Climate Co-Benefit Methodologies for Strengthening Climate Action” across four regions in the country thereby enriching skills of over 160 senior executives from 52 organizations. The concluding workshop was organized in Goa and inaugurated by Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, CMD, Goa Shipyard Ltd.; Dr. Alexander Fisher, Director, Indo-German Climate Action Project, GIZ India; Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE and Shri Prabal Vikram Singh, Country Director, OPM India & OPM Bangladesh. Earlier workshops were organized in Bengaluru (Southern Region), Kolkata (Eastern Region) and New Delhi (Northern Region).

The workshops were organized with knowledge support of Oxford Policy Management (OPM), Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), and Perspectives Climate Group (PCG) and focused on fundamentals of the ‘Climate Co-benefit’ concept and also explored possible ways to measure its positive impact.

SCOPE’s 50th AGM reflects on unwavering commitment to innovative pathways and vision for future

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex body of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), hosted its 50th Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was addressed by Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, GAIL; and Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE. The meeting was attended by large number of CMDs, Directors and Senior officials of member PSEs.

While deliberating on the activities and initiatives undertaken by SCOPE, its 50th AGM highlighted its unwavering commitment to policy advocacy, capacity building, collaborations, driving impactful change and excellence in the Public Sector. A milestone step – SCOPE Social Interaction Centre (SSIC) by SCOPE further emphasized SCOPE’s commitment of coalescing the vision of PSEs towards nation’s progress. While outlining its vision for the future, the 50th AGM discussed SCOPE’s plans to further strengthen the apex body and expand the ambit of its activities.

The AGM also showcased how through active participation in global forums such as ILO, IOE and OECD, along with pivotal national forums including EPFO, ESIC, DTNBWED etc. SCOPE fosters to benchmark PSEs at an international level. Further, various programs to educate and address critical issues such as Climate Change, Leadership Development, and Capacity Building of PSEs and SCOPE’s continued efforts to create innovative pathways for progress, innovation, and policy advocacy were also deliberated in the meeting.

Highlighting the need for Confidence, Conviction and Commitment for ensuring a successful career journey, he reiterated that SCOPE is dedicated to guiding and developing capacities of Public Sector talent.

He further added that it is a unique program that offers a great learning experience to the participants and an opportunity to engage and network with executives from different organisations and diverse sectors.

SCOPE presents Workshop on Eudaimonia (Living well, faring well)

SCOPE’s Eudaimonia program highlights significance of ‘Living Well, Faring Well’
Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organised a first of its kind program – Eudaimonia (Living Well, Faring Well) – emphasizing on overall wellness through the integration of financial stability, holistic health and inheritance planning at SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi.

The program was addressed by Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE and Member, Governing Body, ILO; Dr. Mohit Gupta, Professor of Cardiology, GB Pant Hospital; CA Anil Chopra, Group Director, Bajaj Capital Ltd. and Shri K. K. Rai, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India.

The sessions represented a significant step towards promoting a more inclusive approach to wellness and cultivating a sense of security, fulfilment among the participants, while reiterating  healthy living during one’s career and post retirement.

SCOPE organizes Advanced Global Leadership Program (AGLP 2.0)

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE)’s much revered Advanced Global Leadership Program (AGLP 2.0), organized in collaboration with IIM, Calcutta and University of St. Gallen, Switzerland concluded in New Delhi recently. Shri Sanjai Kumar, CMD, RailTel; Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE and Member, Governing Body, ILO; Shri Ayush Gupta, Director (HR), GAIL; Shri Anil Kumar Jadli, Director (HR); NTPC and and Prof. Partha Priya Datta, Professor, IIM, Calcutta addressed the participants during the concluding session. Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Vice Chairman, SCOPE and CMD, Goa Shipyard Ltd.; Shri Vinay Ranjan, Director (Personnel), Coal India Ltd.; Shri Debi Prasad Satpathy, Director (HR), BEML; and several senior PSE officials were also present.

AGLP 2.0 encompassing training modules at IIM Calcutta, SCOPE, New Delhi, University of St. Gallen, Switzerland along with visits to various International organizations like WTO, ILO, IOE, OECD, GIZ etc. is one of SCOPE’s most coveted programs, meticulously crafted to challenge participants in their current roles and deepen their leadership acumen for the future. 32 senior executives hailing from 13 PSEs participated in this program.

SCOPE pays respect to Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti

On the 155th birth anniversary of our father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) paid a floral tribute to Gandhiji at SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi. Paying respect, Shri Atul Sobti, Director General and Member, Governing Body, ILO garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. On the occasion he shared that, “As the nation treads towards becoming ‘Viksit Bharat’, Gandhiji’s teachings of being Self-reliant hold more relevance than ever before, and we must continue to innovate and strive for excellence.” Senior officials of SCOPE were also present during the occasion.

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a Workshop on “The Role of Climate Co-Benefit Methodologies for strengthening climate action” in Kolkata which was participated by senior executives from several PSEs. The workshop organized in collaboration with GIZ, Germany and knowledge support of Oxford Policy Management (OPM), Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), and Perspectives Climate Group (PCG) focused on fundamentals of the ‘Climate Co-benefit’ concept and also explored possible ways to measure positive impacts of forestry and Single-Use Plastic (SUP) ban and Urban Forestry initiatives.

SCOPE launches Advanced Global Leadership Program (AGLP 2.0)

Pursuant to its leadership development endeavour, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) in collaboration with IIM, Calcutta launched the Advanced Global Leadership Program (AGLP 2.0) in Kolkata recently. The program was inaugurated by Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE and Member, Governing Body, ILO in the presence of Prof. B. P. Abraham, Director Incharge (Acting), IIM, Calcutta; Prof. Partha Priya Datta and Prof. Biswatosh Saha, Program Directors, AGLP. 32 senior executives hailing from 13 Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), reflecting a rich mix of sectors and industries are partaking in the program which aims to equip senior executives with skills and knowledge to enhance their strategic capabilities. The program will be conducted over three weeks entailing Workshops at IIM, Calcutta and SCOPE, New Delhi and an International Study-cum-Business Tour.

SCOPE hosts Session on ‘Envisioning Corporate India for Viksit Bharat@2047’

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex body of Public Sector Enterprises organized an engaging session on ‘Envisioning Corporate India for Viksit Bharat@2047’. The event was addressed by Prof. K. V. Subramanian, India’s ED to International Monetary Fund and Former Chief Economic Advisor of India; Shri Hemang Jani, Senior Advisor to ED, World Bank; Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, GAIL and Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE and Member, Governing Body, ILO. Featuring a Book reading of ‘India @100’ and thought sharing by Prof. K. V. Subramanian, the program touched upon the four-pillar strategy for India’s inclusive and sustained growth and the roadmap for the country to achieve the goal of becoming US $55 trillion economy by 2047. The intriguing, interactive session was participated by over 300 participants from across the country.

SCOPE organizes workshop on Climate co- benefits for Climate Action

A workshop on “The Role of Climate Co-Benefit Methodologies for Strengthening Climate Action by Indian Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs)”, organized by Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) in association with GIZ was inaugurated by Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, GAIL (India) Ltd in presence of Ms. Taina Dyckhoff, Head of Division Climate & Environment, German Embassy; Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE and Shri Sujoy Choudhury, Chairman, SCOPE Sustainability Committee & Climate Change & Director, IOCL. The knowledge partners of the workshop consisted of a consortium of Oxford Policy Management, CEEW and Perspectives Climate Group. The workshop was participated by several executives from 22 PSEs across the country.

SCOPE has over the past few years worked incessantly towards creating awareness and capacitating PSEs in Green skills. Nation-wide workshops constitute a pertinent part of SCOPE’s endeavour in sharpening green skills of PSEs, to create a workforce with technical knowledge and commitment to a sustainable tomorrow.

SCOPE decodes Union Budget 2024

Elucidating the announcements of Union Budget 2024, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a session with economic, financial, and taxation experts on ‘Decoding the Union Budget 2024’ in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Deloitte. Prof. N. R. Bhanumurthy, Eminent Economist; Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE; CA Anuj Goyal, Central Council Member, ICAI addressed the program.

A detailed presentation on various aspects of the Budget including new provisions and amendments in Taxation was made by senior partners and subject matter experts from ICAI and Deloitte. Over 100 participants from different PSEs attended the program through hybrid mode including SCOPE’s various social media platforms.

Delving deep into different aspects of the Budget 2024, Prof. N. R. Bhanumurthy said that the Budget has balanced both the short-term as well as medium-term aspects of the economy and highlighted the need to give due attention to reforms focused on increasing the productivity and labour market reforms.

Terming the Budget 2024 as a ‘future-oriented Budget’, Shri Atul Sobti said that the Budget focuses on the long-term growth of the country and has set priorities in various key areas. He added that PSEs will have to contribute immensely in these strategic areas and steer India towards becoming the third largest economy in the world.

CA Anuj Goyal, in his address, appreciated the announcements made in Budget 2024, while highlighting the focus of the Budget to give more liberty to trade and industry in the country.

Plantation Program marks Environment Day at SCOPE

Commemorating World Environment Day, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a plantation program at its office premises at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi. Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Vice-Chairman, SCOPE and CMD, Goa Shipyard Ltd. and Shri Atul Sobti DG, SCOPE planted saplings in the presence of Senior officials of SCOPE.

In keeping with the theme of Environment Day – Our Land, Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration, SCOPE organized the plantation program reiterating its steadfast commitment towards a greener and more sustainable future. Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) observed the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY) at SCOPE Social Interaction Centre (SSIC), Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Shri Atul Sobti DG, SCOPE along with employees participated in the Yoga session and inspirited them to imbibe and practice yoga in their daily lives, for good health and overall wellness. SCOPE continues to prioritize and undertake various programs for healthy living.

SCOPE-ILO release first-of-its-kind study on ‘Skilling for Future’

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and International Labour Organization (ILO) released a joint study titled ‘Skilling for future in PSEs: An ILO -SCOPE study on skills profiles in PSEs’ in the presence of Ms. Michiko Miyamoto, Country Director, ILO India; Mr. Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, GAIL; Mr. Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE; Ms. Rashmi Govil, Director (HR), IOC and Mr. Ravindra Peiris, Senior Specialist on Employers’ Activities, ILO. The study entailing recommendations on sector-specific strategies was participated by CMDs, Directors and Senior officials of Public Sector fraternity and senior officials from ILO both physically and virtually.

During the event, dignitaries emphasized on the pivotal role of skilling in the present times, highlighting the significance of the study in addressing this imperative. Presentation of the key findings and recommendations of the report were also showcased during the event giving a glimpse into the first-of-its kind endeavour to introspect the skills profiles in PSEs vis-à-vis the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), the sectoral skilling landscape along with identifying the sectoral skilling gaps.

Understanding the need to align PSEs to international benchmarks, SCOPE has been undertaking many research-based studies in pertinent areas of climate change, women empowerment, digital transformations, leadership development and skill profiles with organisations of repute including ILO and GIZ, Germany.

SCOPE promotes overall wellbeing with Health Talk cum Health Screening Camp

Prioritizing wellbeing and fitness in the Public Sector, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a ‘Health Talk cum Health Screening Camp’ at SCOPE Convention Centre, SCOPE Complex, New Delhi.

Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE; Shri Siba Prasad Mohanty, CMD, HURL addressed the participants and Dr. Puneet Girdhar, Principal Director & HoD – Spine Surgery, BLK-Max Hospital delivered a Health Talk on ‘Lifestyle Modification to Prevent Lower Back Pain.’

The health screening camp comprising of Eye Check-up by a team of Dr. Shroff Charity Eye Hospital, Consultation by Spine Specialist from BLK Max Hospital and various health check-ups were organized as part of the event. Employees from various PSEs attended the health talk and availed the benefit of the Health Screening Camp. The health talk was organized in association with Dr. Reddy’s Foundation for Health Education and as part of SCOPE’s month-long Public Sector Day celebrations.

SCOPE’s Art Exhibition cum Painting Competition adds colour to Public Sector Day celebrations

Encouraging creative minds, artists and upcoming talent, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized an Art Exhibition cum Painting Competition at SCOPE Social Interaction Centre (SSIC), SCOPE Complex, New Delhi, as part of Public Sector Day celebrations.

Dr. Vasundhara Upmanyu, Joint Secretary, DPE, Ministry of Finance inaugurated the event in the presence of Shri Atul Sobti DG, SCOPE, senior officials of PSEs and participants. SCOPE also felicitated its new members during the event participated by a large number of participants from various PSEs across the country.

The painting competition was held on the themes – ‘My Vision for India of tomorrow’, ‘Nation ‘Go Green’, ‘Nation Building by Public Sector’ and ‘Unleash your imagination through brushes and strokes.’ Live Art Sessions by talented artists and an Art exhibition was also organized in association with Vimla Art Forum during the event.

This unique initiative of SCOPE aimed at unleashing the hidden talents of PSE employees, while encouraging, nurturing their creativity and imagination.

SCOPE organizes Business Quiz Bonanza as part of Public Sector Day celebrations

Fostering inter organizational learning and teamwork, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) hosted a thrilling Business Quiz Bonanza at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi. The event was addressed by Shri Amarendu Prakash, Chairman, SAIL; Shri Atul Sobti DG, SCOPE and Shri Uttam Lal, Program Director & Director (Pers.), NHPC. Witnessing an overwhelming response, the event was attended by around 120 teams from 26 PSEs across the country.

Enunciating the contributions and achievements of the Public Sector, Quiz tested the acumen of participants on a wide range of topics, including business, economics and current affairs.

SCOPE Sports Premier League organized

More than 150 participants from over 30 PSEs compete to clinch titles
As part of Public Sector Day celebrations, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized SCOPE Sports Premier League featuring Badminton and Table Tennis competitions at SCOPE Social Interaction Centre (SSIC), Lodhi Road, its newly launched facility. Shri K. S. Murthy, CMD, BHEL; Smt. Indu Puri, Veteran TT player and Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE felicitated winners of the tournament that was contested by over 150 participants from over 30 PSEs across the country.

SCOPE Sports Premier League has been initiated by SCOPE to encourage inter- organizational learning and competitiveness amongst sportspersons in the Public Sector. SCOPE has dedicatedly been working towards highlighting the contribution of PSEs in inducing and nurturing sports talent in India. SCOPE Sports Premier League is the first such Sports event organized by SCOPE towards its endeavour of encouraging sportsmanship.

Embarking on a new journey and part of Public Sector Day celebrations, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) inaugurated the first-of-its-kind ‘SCOPE Social Interaction Centre’ (SSIC), at SCOPE Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. SSIC was inaugurated by Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, GAIL in the presence of Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE; Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Vice-Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, Goa Shipyard; Dr. Vasundhara Upmanyu, Joint Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises (DPE); Shri Lucas L. Kamsuan, Joint Secretary, DPE; Ms. Michiko Miyamoto, Country Director, ILO India. Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC; Shri K.S. Murthy, CMD, BHEL; Shri Amarendu Prakash, Chairman, SAIL; Ms. Vartika Shukla, CMD, EIL; Shri K.P. During the event, a Coffee table book titled ‘Samaveta’ – a succinct representation of vision and role of SCOPE, and special issue of SCOPE’s monthly magazine KALEIDOSCOPE on ‘PSEs – Envisioning Viksit Bharat’ were also released.

Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta said that Public Sector Day is commemoration of the spirit of the Public Sector and all the endeavours of SCOPE including the SSIC are a step towards empowering PSEs. He further highlighted the continuous endeavours of SCOPE towards policy advocacy, and assured that the apex body will continue to pursue it with utmost vigour.

Shri Atul Sobti in his address highlighted the dynamic role being played by PSEs in the socio-economic progress of the nation and emphasised that Public Sector can achieve anything if there is synergy amongst them. SCOPE, as the apex body, he added, continues to undertake endeavours to foster an environment of synergy and coherence amongst PSEs.

Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay speaking on the occasion said that the newly inaugurated SSIC, like all SCOPE’s endeavours, will further strengthen the collaboration amongst the PSE fraternity.

Each year, Public Sector Day celebrations are held on 10th April commemorating the incessant role of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) in the national economy. This year, month-long celebrations being organized by SCOPE include Sports event, Art Exhibition & Competition, Business Quiz, and a Health program.

Taking its Green Skilling endeavour to the next mile, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) in association with GIZ, Germany organized a Workshop on ‘Decarbonisation of India’s Public Sector Enterprises and the Role of Green Hydrogen’ at SCOPE Complex in New Delhi. The inaugural session was addressed by Shri Ajay Yadav (IAS), Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE); Dr. Stephan Hesselmann, Minister Counsellor, Economic Affairs, German Embassy; Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, GAIL (India) Ltd.; Ms. Ruchika Drall, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC); Shri Farhad Vania from GIZ and Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE.

The workshop also witnessed presentations and discussions by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power; Indo-German Energy Forum; MNRE; MoEFCC; European Investment Bank, World Bank, KfW Development Bank & industry experts to deliberate on green hydrogen, India’s readiness and climate finance etc.

More than 300 participants from 45 PSEs attended the workshop, both physically and virtually.

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) observed the International Women’s Day at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi. Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE calling women ‘multifaceted’ and the ‘embodiment of strength and exuberance’, exhorted them to give their best and transcend to newer heights of success. The celebrations were joined by International delegates from 25 countries as part of VVGNLI program.

SCOPE’s ‘National Meet on RTI Act’ organized in Shillong

Bringing its capacity building endeavour to the North Eastern region of the country, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex body of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) organized its ‘National Meet on Right To Information (RTI) Act’ in Shillong, Meghalaya. The meet was addressed by Shri Heeralal Samariya, Chief Information Commissioner, CIC; Shri H. Nongpluh, State Chief Information Commissioner, Meghalaya; Shri Atul Sobti Director General, SCOPE and Senior officials of Meghalaya Govt., Govt. of India and PSEs. The meet was attended by over 80 participants from 34 PSEs.

Shri Heeralal Samariya interacting with the participants said that the intention of the Right to Information Act is to foster transparency and accountability in governance. Commending the large participation in SCOPE’s workshop, he asserted that though RTI is a small Act, it is the most powerful Act. He further advised officials to facilitate information to the Public as it is their right, and be up-to-date in displaying their information in the public domain.

Shri H. Nongpluh spoke about how RTI is one of the most empowering Acts and the mindset of the Public Information Officer (PIO) is pivotal and they must be prompt in giving replies of RTIs. He also emphasized that such programs must be organized frequently to create better awareness about the Act.

Shri Atul Sobti in his address shared that SCOPE decided to organize this National Meet in Shillong due to the rising prominence of the city, as it takes steps towards becoming a Smart City. Calling RTI the most unique, vital and empowering legislation, DG, SCOPE emphasized that the idea to conduct this meet across various regions was to facilitate more clarity, inform and deliberate on the various provisions of RTI.

Addressed by a unique mix of Government representatives and faculty, the interactive meet was another step by SCOPE to take its capacity building endeavour to different regions of the country, through workshops on pertinent topics ranging from Corporate Governance, Climate change to Women empowerment, Leadership, Digital transformation etc.

SCOPE organizes Public Procurement Workshop in Shillong

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex body of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) organized a workshop on ‘Public Procurement- Issues and Challenges and Sharing of Experiences of Best Practices,’ which was inaugurated by Smt. Ravneet Kaur, Chairperson, Competition Commission of India (CCI) in the presence of Ms. Anupama Anand, Secretary, CCI and Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE in Shillong, Meghalaya. Senior officials from CCI, GeM and various PSEs across the country were also present. The meet is being attended by 85 participants of 31 PSEs from diverse sectors.

In her inaugural address, Smt. Ravneet Kaur said that amidst globalisation, the need for a robust market system that supports competition and also discourages any anti-competitive practices has been magnified, and the aim of Competition Law is to create an ecosystem where competition thrives. Emphasizing on the economic and social significance of Public Procurement, she complimented SCOPE for organizing the workshop on this pertinent subject.

Ms. Anupama Anand in her address said that the role of Public Procurement is multifaceted and signified that such workshops are catalysts in propelling organizations towards a more efficient, transparent and innovative public procurement landscape.

Shri Atul Sobti in his address said that Public Procurement facilitates a transparent and efficient governing system, and seeing the sheer value and volume of procurement, its role cannot be underestimated. He further highlighted SCOPE’s continued endeavour to conduct workshops on pertinent subjects across the country.

SCOPE has over the years expedited its efforts towards conducting regular workshops on pertinent topics, across diverse regions of the country. Focusing on the North-Eastern region of the country, SCOPE is organizing another workshop on ‘Right to Information’ in Shillong.

SCOPE organizes EPFO Interactive Session with PSEs

As part of furthering its capacity building interventions and creating unique opportunities of dialogue, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized an interactive session between Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) and Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) at SCOPE Complex, New Delhi. Shri Atul Sobti DG, SCOPE; Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Vice Chairman, SCOPE and CMD, Goa Shipyard Ltd. and EPFO team led by Shri R.M. Verma, ACC(HQ) addressed the session. The engaging interactive session between PSEs and EPFO officials was also webcasted live and deliberated upon fostering a transparent, collaborative approach in managing employee welfare schemes with special focus on EPS 95. The session was participated by over 1000 participants virtually and 150 Senior officials in person.

SCOPE to organize Workshops on ‘Public Procurement’ & ‘RTI’ in Shillong

Pursuant to taking capacity building endeavours to diverse regions of the country, Standing Conference of Public Sector Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex body of Public Sector Enterprises is organizing programs on ‘Public Procurement’ and ‘Right to Information Act’ at Hotel Vivanta, Shillong on 29th February – 1st March, 2024 and 1st March 2024 – 2nd March, 2024 respectively.

National Meet of Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) under aegis of SCOPE

National Meet of Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) under the aegis of Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), was organized in Bengaluru. Shri Atul Sobti Director General, SCOPE addressed the meet inaugurated by Her Highness, the Maharani of Mysore, Smt. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar. Attended by over 650 participants from across the country, the meet was held in the presence of Ms. Varsha Raut, President, WIPS and senior officers of Public Sector fraternity. Speakers exhorted women to identify their inimitable potential to succeed and ability to bring a unique perspective to everything. They also urged participants to accentuate their skills, create new benchmarks at work, by accepting challenges and breaking barriers.

SCOPE hails ‘directional’ budget paving roadmap for inclusive and comprehensive development

SCOPE, an apex body of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), compliments the Hon’ble Union Finance Minister for presenting a balanced and a directional Interim Budget 2024. “This ‘directional’ Budget paves a roadmap for inclusive and comprehensive development by integrating all stratas and sectors of the economy for a developed India.” said DG SCOPE

While appreciating the Interim Budget, Shri Atul Sobti, DG, SCOPE added that though the announcements are macro in nature, they are likely to boost the overall socio-economic development of the country as it gives requisite impetus to economic prosperity by empowering youth, women and the marginalized; social development by focussing growth and development of rural India and focusing on environmental sustainability so as to contribute towards a greener planet. The inclusivity aspect combined with focus on infrastructure development and synergy amongst sectors would pave the way for a sustainable inclusive development.

Highlighting the role of PSEs in the developmental journey of the country, he added that with presence of the public sector in strategic areas, they shall continue to play a pivotal role in achieving the economic growth in the country as the Budget paves way for innovation, digitisation and investment led growth.

SCOPE revisits Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless principles of Ethical Leadership

Remembering the Father of the nation on the 76th Martyrs’ Day, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a Symposium on ‘Reflections on Mahatma Gandhi’s Ethical Leadership.’ The program was addressed by Shri Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary (CA), Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution; Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE and Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna, Eminent Gandhian. Offering an insight into Gandhiji’s principles of Ethical leadership centred around values and integrity, the program deliberated upon the necessity of these principles amidst the changing paradigms at workplaces. The symposium was enthusiastically participated by a large number of participants from across the country.

Vice-President of India confers SCOPE Awards to PSEs

Vice President calls Public Sector the Pride of the Nation and spine of the Indian economy
The Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar conferred the SCOPE Awards at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi during the event organised by Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE).  Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman, SCOPE; Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE and Shri Brajesh Kumar Updadhyay, Vice Chairman, SCOPE were also present on the dais. The function was attended by Senior Government Officials from various Ministries & Departments of Government; senior officials from PSEs and national, international associates of SCOPE. The program was attended both physically and virtually by a large number of participants. SCOPE Awards commemorate the innovative, development driven and entrepreneurial spirit of Public Sector Enterprises.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-President commended the potential and capability of the Public Sector Enterprises by calling them the pride of the Nation and spine of the Indian economy. He appreciated the rich human resources of the PSEs and also guided them to optimise their talent pool, take initiatives towards research and development while embracing emerging and disruptive technologies.

Chairman, SCOPE, Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta on this occasion said that PSEs have come a long way playing a balanced role in ensuring economic development, social justice and employment generation and these awards have been instituted cognizant of the varied initiatives of PSEs in the nation’s growth.

In his address Director General, SCOPE, Shri Atul Sobti said that commemorating the achievements of the Public Sector, SCOPE Awards are a festival of PSEs’ achievements, as they reverberate and celebrate the undying spirit and incessant role of PSEs as nation builders. He further added that SCOPE as the apex body of PSEs will continue to take newer initiatives for enhancing performance and competitiveness of PSEs while showcasing their achievements on national and international forums.
