Remembering the Father of the nation on the 76th Martyrs’ Day, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a Symposium on ‘Reflections on Mahatma Gandhi’s Ethical Leadership.’ The program was addressed by Shri Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary (CA), Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution; Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE and Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna, Eminent Gandhian. Offering an insight into Gandhiji’s principles of Ethical leadership centred around values and integrity, the program deliberated upon the necessity of these principles amidst the changing paradigms at workplaces. The symposium was enthusiastically participated by a large number of participants from across the country.

Paying tribute to the father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 154th birth anniversary, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) paid a floral tribute to Gandhiji at SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi. Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion and said that “We are fortunate to be born in the country of a leader like Mahatma Gandhi, whose teachings and values are as relevant in the present times, as they were in the past.” He also added that taking inspiration from Hon’ble Prime Minister’s clarion call for ‘Swachhanjali’ or cleanliness drive across the country, SCOPE is also undertaking a cleanliness drive to pay tribute to Bapu.

Commemorating the 75th Martyrs’ Day, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a Symposium on ‘Ethical Leadership for Organization Integrity: The Gandhian Way’. The occasion was addressed by Shri Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs; Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, Former DG, CSIR and Chairman, National Innovation Foundation; Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE and Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna, Eminent Gandhian. The dignitaries reminisced Gandhiji’s teachings on ethical leadership for organizational integrity and excellence. The symposium was participated in large numbers from across the country.

Paying tribute to the Father of the nation, Shri Atul Sobti said, “Gandhiji, endowed with the ability to inspire generations, across the globe, remains one of the most revered leaders of all times.” He added that, “the true tribute to the Father of the nation, would be to follow his values and teachings, not just on one day, but every day in our lives.”

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a Symposium on ‘Transformational Leadership in Governance – The Gandhian Way’ to commemorate the 74th Martyrs’ Day. The occasion was addressed by Shri Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary, Consumer Affairs; Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna, Veteran Gandhian; Shri Pradeep Kumar Agarwal, CMD, Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. and Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE.

Shri Rohit Kumar Singh, in his address, enunciated Gandhiji’s vision of Governance being citizen centric, decentralisation of power to the grassroot levels and treating customer as supreme. He highlighted areas of conflict resolution, envisioning India 2047 and democratisation of information where Gandhian principles of transparency and ethics are most relevant to strengthen the country and prepare for the future.

Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna in her lecture highlighted the global presence of Gandhiji as a moral leader. She also discussed his quest for positive change to ensure social and economic well-being of people. She reiterated the various traits of Gandhiji that are most relevant for a transformational leader in the present dynamic business environment which would help in overcoming various social and ethical dilemmas.

Shri Atul Sobti said that SCOPE through its dedicated forum has been exploring Gandhian principles while creating awareness among PSEs of its application in the modern times. Amidst rapid change, he added, there was a rising need for leaders to adopt Gandhian virtues today so as to instil positivity and self-belief in the people.

Shri Pradeep Kumar Agarwal while paying tribute to the Mahatma, accentuated the need for leaders of today to create trust and influence people as manpower is the most essential component of any organisation.

Paying tribute to Father of the nation and in line with Prime Minister’s vision of Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 that aims at making the cities ‘Garbage Free’ and replenish natural resources through the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle), SCOPE is celebrating Swachhta Pakhwada in its premises at SCOPE Complex, Lodhi Road and SCOPE Minar, Laxmi Nagar from 2nd October to 16th October, 2021.

Speaking on this occasion, DG, SCOPE shared that, “SCOPE will undertake activities to spread awareness and highlight efforts of Public Sector Enterprises towards Cleanliness.” He added that, “SCOPE has given impetus to nation’s Climate Change agenda and a series of initiatives have been undertaken recently on Climate Change Mitigation bolstering our commitment.”

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a Symposium on ‘Gandhian Perspective for Value Based Governance’ coinciding with 73rdMartyrs’ Day. On this occasion, Shri Pradipta Kumar Bisoi, Secretary, Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications; Prof. J. S. Rajput, India’s Representative to UNESCO's Executive Board; Smt. Shobhana Radhakrishna, Veteran Gandhian and Mr. Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE spoke about espousing the ideals and teachings of Gandhiji, especially in these times of predicament.A large number of participants including senior executives from various PSEs attended the webinar.

With the new realm of challenges amidst the ongoing pandemic, the need for public service has catapulted. To address the same, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organised its 10th Webinar on ‘Action Today, Impact Tomorrow: Learning from Mahatma Gandhi on contribution for Public Service.’ Dr. Anantha Duraiappah, Director, UNESCO, MGIEP, Mr. Atul Sobti DG, SCOPE and Mr. S. Sakthimani, Director (Finance), CCI and Member, SCOPE Executive Board addressed the webinar held to commemorate the United Nations Public Service Day. Around 300 participants attended the webinar through SCOPE’s various social platforms.

Dr. Anantha Duraiappah in his address inspired by the rationale of Mahatma Gandhi said that while the pandemic has challenged the economic situation globally, it is time to take behavioral inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi to tackle the anxiety and uncertainty surrounding us. He also emphasized the importance of building emotional resilience and providing public service through empathy, compassion and mindfulness.

Mr. Atul Sobti stated that the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi not only led a life of selfless service but also set benchmarks in leadership, humanity, patriotism and management and in this time of crisis it is only pertinent to follow his teachings. He also highlighted the role of Public Sector Enterprises in supplementing the efforts of the Government and stated that they have been playing a critical role in the same. He emphasized that only public service done in true spirit brings an actual difference in people’s lives.

Mr. S. Sakthimani reflecting on the teachings of Mahatma said that besides public service, one lesson that we must all imbibe is achieving self reliance and manufacture locally to attain self sufficiency and be globally competitive.

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) organized a programme on ‘Ethical Governance: The Gandhian Way’ coinciding with 72nd Martyrs’ Day.

On this occasion, floral tribute was paid to Mahatma Gandhi by Mr. Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE, Smt. Shobhana Radhakrishna, Eminent Gandhian, Dr. H.K. Chopra, Chief Cardiologist, Moolchand Medcity and Mr. Atul Srivastava Director (Personnel), SAIL. They spoke on Gandhian philosophy and ideals, still relevant in today’s time. Special Issue of SCOPE’s monthly magazine KALEIDOSCOPE titled ‘Ethical Governance: The Gandhian Way’ was also released on the occasion. Large number of senior executives from public sector enterprises attended the programme.
