Women make up half the population of the country and their participation in the workforce is good for business in terms of increasing their competitive advantage and contributing to society at large. While Industry is working towards creating an enabling environment for women to enter and succeed in the workplace there is a need to create greater awareness, accelerate and make a movement.

To realise the vision of Viksit Bharat, policies and initiatives that promote equal pay, equal opportunities, training, career advancement and safety of women at workplace are required.

Towards this, an Industry pledge has been developed to boost economic participation of women by implementing policies/advisories already existent in various laws. The Pledge applies to all employees, potential employees, vendors and contractors across all sectors.

Industry Pledge

As employer, I pledge to increase women’s participation in the workforce and to:

  1. Provide childcare facilities like Creches.
  2. Ensure equal pay for equal work amongst women & men.
  3. Enable women to balance work and care responsibilities.
  4. Grant Maternity leave & other such benefits as per law.
  5. Constitute an Internal Compliance Committee on sexual harassment as mandated by law.
  6. Provide safe workplaces for women.
  7. Communicate all such provisions clearly to all employees.
  8. Invest in career planning and training required for growth of women employees.
  9. Have Gender agnostic job descriptions.
  10. Promote women participation in Supply Chains.
  11. Increase women participation in workforce by ……… percentage in next 3 years.
